Apple's A11 Chip Would Have Cost $150 Trillion In The 1950s
Apple's A11 Bionic chip is the latest processor from Apple, and will power the flagship smartphones - the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X. The phones themselves are priced at somewhere around $999. However, if the A11 Bionic was to be made back in 1950s, the price and size of the processor would've been unimaginable.
According to long, and often boring calculations, the A11 Bionic chip, back in 1957 would cost $150 trillion. It will also use up 100 billion square meters for storing the processor. It would also be using 150 terawatts of power, which is more than 30 times the world's total generating capacity as of now.
