Google Play Protect is Dangerously Unreliable; Detects only 65% of Infected Apps


According to research conducted by independent antivirus testing firm 'AV-TEST', Google Play Protect is the worst performing antivirus system out of 21 apps that it tested.
                
          The testing firm check out a total of 21 security apps and found out that Play Protect performs more than 25% worse than other products in the market.
Play Protect's detection rate was an abysmal 65.8%, whereas the second lowest detection rate was from Droid-X3 at 82%. A number of antivirus solutions event went up to 100%.
The German antivirus testing firm said that "[all apps were] allowed to update themselves at any time and query their in-the-cloud services. We focused on malware detection and usability, including performance and false positives. Products had to demonstrate their capabilities using all components and protection layers."
